22 Aug How to visit Khao Sok National Park, Thailand:
Where: It is located in Surat Thani Province. It is the largest area of virgin forest in southern Thailand and is a remnant of rain forest which is older and more diverse than the Amazon rain forest.
When: Dry season, Dec to April is better. But it is open all year.
Transportation: The nearest major town to Khao Sok is Surat Thani. But you can also visit from Phuket, Krabi or Koh Samui.
Surat Thani: You can fly into Surat Thani Airport or take a train or bus from Bangkok to Surat Thani. From Surat Thani, you can take a bus, minivan, or taxi to Khao Sok. The journey takes about 1.5 to 2.5 hours, depending on the mode of transportation.
- Trains leave from Bangkok’s Hualanphong Station at 18:30, 19:30 and 22:50 for Surat Thani.
- Buses from Surat Thani to Khao Sok leave every hour starting at 7:00 and till 14:00.
- From Phuket, Bus takes 6 hours and starts at 7:30 am.
Entry fee: 300THB for adult and 150 for Child.
What to do and see: A lot of activities are there inside the park and all inclusive packages are also available, but it is bit costly for budget travelers. Accommodation of different styles is available inside the park. On the pier, all information is available. You can do a day trip or multi day trip.
